Consultation on the Code of Practice for the Welfare of Equines
The Code of Practice for the Welfare of Equines provides a practical guide to those owners and keepers responsible for equines in Wales and details a set of underpinning principles of horse care which are designed to cover the differing management techniques required for the many circumstances in which horses are kept in Wales. This consultation runs from November 12, 2007 and closes on January 21, 2008. Consultation on the use of electronic training aids
Welsh Assembly Government Ministers are minded to introduce Regulations leading to a ban on the use of electric training aids (colloquially known as shock collars) following concerns about their use. Any Regulations to be introduced will be made under s12 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Both the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and the Government of Wales Act 2006 require consultation to take place before introducing Regulations. Therefore we wish to consult widely and seek views from organisation and individuals on the use of such devices. It is important that we hear and consider both sides of the argument so as to inform the process. This consultation opened on November 12, 2007 and closes on February 8, 2008.
